PXL THIS!

The most notable Pixelvision/Toy camera film festival festival PXL THIS that has been running for an astonishing length of time the next festival will be its 20th and the entry deadline is Oct 22!

Vinyl Video

So here is an interesting project Vinyl Video its basically a system that converts video signals in to audio that can be recorded on to a vinyl record and played back on a regular television. I imagine it uses very similar technology to the Fisher-Price Pixelvision Camerea which contains a custom integrated circuit the Sanyo LA 7306M more info here. While the Vinyl Video player is very cool it will set you back a Hefty €4500 which seams silly when you could achieve the same effect by buying a Pixelvision camera (I got mine for £30) and recoding the video signal off as audio getting that cut to vinyl (under £100) and playing it back through the Pixelvision to your TV set, still it's nice to see such a complex project online.

Toy Cameras

So I now have few new toys, a 1980s Fisher Price Pixelvision PXL-2000 camera that records video on standard audio cassettes! and a Tyco TVC-8000 another small black and white camera from slightly later, both use a CCD, both are small and grey 


now the PXL- has a huge floowing and many online groups and film festivals dedicated to its users so I wont bother including all the links here (they are easy to find) but the Tyco TVC-8000 is less well known and used (which is why  it only cost me £1) here is an excellent website about its capabilities
